Wood Forget-me-not (Myosotis sylvatica)

You could be correct with wood forget-me-not but the excellent photo does not appear to be hairy enough for the wood forget-me-not. I wonder if this could be M. alpestris, a garden escapee as you suggested may be a possibility.

Myosotis sylvatica

This looks like M. sylvatica to me. However there is an excellent key in Stace (not all of Clive's keys are as simple to use as that for Myosotis). The sure (and easy) way to tell M. alpestris from M. sylvatica is that the nutlets have rounded tips. M. sylvatica nutlets are acute. The type descriptions of both species suggect approximately an equal degree of hariness incidentally.
