Description:

White/yellow with orange head parts. Black tail end, front legs longer than all the others. 8mm long.

Yes to beetle larva. Looks like a chafer of some kind, so not intentionally aquatic but many turf-dwellers will have become aquatic in the last few days.

Dear John, it has been raining a lot lately!!! It was in some leaf mould when I found it, there were a lot of leaf beetles and a black ground beetle near by.
