A group of fungus found on a small mound which may be covering dead wood. The fresher fungus were compact with a domed brown cap and white gills. The caps of the mature fungi had flattened out and their gills where very dark if not black. The cps were very fragile and split easily. My best guess from looking at a guide is a Fibrecap - but I have little confidence in that id.

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

Glistening Inkcap

Thank you for your identification. I considered Glistening Inkcap but dismissed it as it did not glisten!
