looks like a lichen that grows on stone and wood. its called Xanthoria parietina I think
Not every yellow lichen is Xanthoria parietina. That is a 'foliose' species (has leafy lobes).
In this case, those thalli that are in focus show it to be placodioid species (a crust with a lobed margin that remains firmly appressed to the substrate, and in section lacks a lower cortex). Gardener's identification, Caloplaca flavescens, is correct.
