I have heard of people eating hawthorn leaves Were they refered to as "Bread and Cheese"

That is what Mum called them! Too late to apologise to her now.

Ancient Woodland Inventory

Thanks for ID and features to look for Fizzy. Where did you find the Ancient Woodland Inventory please? Although Wokingham have Nores Hill Wood on their Borough Council site they claim not to own it when I send them information (fallen tree / photos of Wild Service trees). Its a very small wood and I worry that developers will get hold of it - they've already encroached a little at the top as you can see from the photo of the veteran oak on

I have tried to collect loads of photos (most are on iSpot) to have evidence to protect it.
