Badger in the Périgord

Observed: 4th June 2006 By: clydehintonclydehinton’s reputation in Mammals
French badger looking for insects in the freshly mown grass
The blaireau continues ...
... until something distracts him
Description:

I took these pictures through the kitchen window at our house near Grignols one early evening in June 2006. There was still plenty of daylight at the time and the badger, who stayed for about 30 minutes, I would guess, seemed to be searching for insects in the hay that was left after I had cut the rather tall grass in the back garden/field. One thing surprised me: at one point, the badger disappeared into the woods. I went out to see where he had gone to, but couldn't see him. A few minutes after I had returned, the badger came back into the field again. He seemed not have been aware of me at all during this time. Finally, I disturbed him by opening the back door quietly (I thought). This time he disappeared for good.

Badger

Please put your photos up it would be good to see them.

It is likely the badger was aware of you for the whole time but as long as you don't do anything to cause it concern it will carry on feeding whilst keeping an eye on you.
