Description:

Black club-like fungus growing on old cut-down tree stump in my garden. I think it is Dead-man's Fingers but what about the thinner stems? Are they 'younger' ones still developing or something else?

Identifications

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

The thinner ones look like Candlesnuff fungus to me (Xylaria hypoxylon).
