Parmelia lichen?

Foliose lichen with large flat greyish lobes, brown under and numerous white spots over whole surface. On sloping east-facing wooden fence rail. Was hiding under ?Evernia lichen.


Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

This one is a Punctelia, the

This one is a Punctelia, the lobes lack the white lines of pseudocyphellae associated with Parmelia sulcata and saxatalis. Instead the pseudocyphellae form numerous scattered dots.
Puntelia subrudecta is the commonest of several species.
