Gill Sinclair’s reputation in Fungi and Lichens

This white crustose? lichen was amongst moss/algae on some vertical breeze blocks. Confirmation of type of lichen appreciated.


Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

Maybe not a lichen

Difficult to see detail, but this looks more like a non-lichenised fungus, e.g. a species of Athelia, attacking and killing the algae.
