Thanks to those who think it is a Common Blue. Having enjoyed observing butterflies for yrs espec the blues I felt this one was different as it didn't have any of the usual markings and edging either side and it really was the most unnatural bright blue of the photo.
But I will defer to the experts!

Common Blue

None of the other Blues have the purpley-blue colouration seen here. The wingtips do seem to have lost the white borders, but this is a usual function of wear
