Description:

Tidying up in the reserve hut revealed several wasps nests behind old posters. Is a species level ID possible?
I don't have any hymenoptera literature that goes into nest design.
Diameter of nest approximately 50mm
A smaller nest is here - http://www.ispot.org.uk/node/113985

Vespula vulgaris

Probably V. vulgaris. Beige nests are typical of V. vulgaris and Vespa crabro. The other social species make greyish nests
