Strange filaments on fungus

Observed: 3rd October 2010 By: charliespringer

While reviewing some old photographs on a computer at a higher resolution, we noticed the strange filaments growing out of a fungus. The photograph was taken on a Fungus Foray organised by the RSPB, Pulborough on Wiggonholt Common. The filaments were not obvious when viewed with a naked eye.

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.
