is this a mis-spelling on the website menu of choices or is this another name that has had its spelling revised?
It's just a typo, the name has been put in by hand
Record your ladybird sightings!
I was confused by the fact that it shows "other observations of Grenfinch" therefore I presumed that this has been entered as a name before to link to these others. Plant spellings quite often seem to change regularly hence my question
The 'other observations' link matches on the scientific name, rather than the English, which allows species with no common names, etc, to still be shown - I assume the text is formatted along the lines of 'other observations of (insert common + latin name given for this observation)'
Plant names seem to attempt to conform to one large uniform scheme of spellings, etc - there's no such scheme for animals!
thanks for explaining that!
Hi Folks. Sorry for the confusion.
I was away for a few days and just now saw the comments. It was, as you have decided ,
a 'simple' typo. I hate those darned tings!! Dave.
