Two years ago House Sparrows in this area had almost reached nuisance levels. There was some reduction in numbers last year but, sadly, the "Common" House Sparrow has almost disappeared from our gardens this year.
In fact the one pictured here is one of only two to visit me today.
Looking at the photo this specimen looks none too healthy, particularly around the eyes and beak - or is that just my imagination?
