Open woodland,there were so many in small groups on the moss and rotten wood

Its great to have this flush of colour early in the season. This is still one I have to find after 20 years of looking.
Saw several today in my local wood.
It is a first for me,but I was amazed at how many there were and didn't know which to take pic's of,there were also some snowdrops mixed with them,oh roll on the spring
There are actually two distinct species of Scarlet Elf Cup. This one and Sarcoscypha coccinea and they can only be separated by the spore shape and shape of the hairs on the outside of the cup.
