Sometimes two trees grow so closely together that even their trunks are competing for space. In many cases I guess one tree will dominate but in this case an oak (left) and a beech (right) have both grown to mature trees. The trunks do eventually separate and both have healthy crowns.

    Likely ID
    Oak and Beech (Quercus/Fagus sylvatica)
Confidence: I'm as sure as I can be.
