Coot or Moorhen?
Description:

If you confuse coots with moorhens (as I used to do) here's a tip: There's a 'r' in 'moorhen' and 'red' and a 't' in 'coot' and 'white'. Coots have white beaks and moorhens have red beaks. Actually, as you can see from the photo here, this moorhen has a red and yellow beak.

coots

As bald as a coot. The white does make it look bald. That's how i remembered it when I was a child.
