Dragonfly Nymph 003

Can anyone tell me what type of dragonfly nymph this looks like.

  • Hawker sp. (Aeshna sp.)
    Confidence: It might be this.
    Likely ID
    Hawker sp (Aeshna sp)
Confidence: I'm as sure as I can be.
  • Brown Hawker (Aeshna grandis)
Confidence: It's likely to be this, but I can't be certain.

Dragonfly Nymph

Brownish nymph about 11cm in length. Found in amongst weeds at top of pond.

Dragonfly nymph.

It's not really possible to identify to species from this photo but, as Peter has indicated, it is one of the Hawkers.

You have over estimated the size here though - 11cm would be about twice the size of any dragonfly larvae found in the UK.
