Description:

is this unusual . it feb 2011 , we,ve had snow , wind , rain , and its rumoured some sun. basically the weather has thrown everything at this tree that would usually tempt apples from their perches ... or at least make em go brown, rotten. However, this particular tree still has apples today that look as tasty as when they should of have , which was last year!! as can be seen, leaves have gone yet its loaded wiv apples . im on the edge of scrambling over the neighbours fence to get a few , so please help. this is normal right?

Winter apples

This is not unprecedented - there is a picture in "The Story of the Apple" (B.E. Juniper and D. J. Mabberley, 2006) showing apples in Oxford on 14 March 2002, having over-wintered on a tree.

Windfalls?

Keep your fingers crossed for calm weather - a tree near to where I live had a heavy crop until the new year, but they are all on the ground now.
