more grey than the adult

I agree its a grey heron but will have to take your word on it being a juvenile.
I am waiting for some 'bird books' to arrive, The one I am using at the moment has a pic of a Grey Heron, but it has a lot more white plumage, but it does say that the young are greyer. Maybe an expert could cast their eye and give a definate identification. I would like to be able to distinguish between a juvenile and an adult.
Usually grey cap and back of neck (white in adult). Irregular black markings also suggest a new bird.
