What were the dimensions.

What were the dimensions. Lenzites should be max 8cm across and up to 1.5 cm thick. Yours looks bigger than this. Another that looks similar but which can grow up to 30 cm across and up to 8 cm thick is Trametes gibbosa (the lumpy bracket).

Thanks for that. It was more than 8cm across, hence my uncertainty. What put me off thinking it was T.gibbosa was that the bracket I found was nowhere near as thick as any of those pictured in Phillips, Collins or Jordan, but I see from reading the descriptions that T.gibbosa does not necessarily have to be so thick. Also the fact that it was found on a beech stump makes me think you are right.
