Interesting green plumage on this male chaffinch. Any ideas why it might be this colour?

I don't think there is anything unusual about that greenish rump on a male Chaffinch.

The green on the rump does look normal. Maybe because the plumage is plumped up, this makes it look more extensive than it is

It just looked unusually green to me, but it's probably just because it was plumped up as you say allrounder. You can tell I'm not a birder...!
