An odd couple

This pair, I assume they are a pair because they always visit together, never try taking food from the bird table but prefer to root around and stab at the ground. She more than he digs holes in the ground. It's just as well I didn't want a 'bowling green' lawn.

They can be very noisy too-

as well as industrious diggers. If you're out in the woods on a still autumn day, a blackbird throwing dead leaves around to find invertebrates underneath can be surprisingly loud.
