 BLACK  SLUG ON SPHAGNUM MOSS
Description:

Long black slug about 75-80mm long feeding on sphagnum.Several of these slugs were observed on this sphagnum covered bog hole

Preference for moist condition so sphagnum moss seems a good habitat, althougn usually largely nocturnal. Although variable in colour the black are more common in northern england and lighter pigments more common further south - not sure whether black is the commonest in ireland?
