Description:

A poor snapshot that I got through the window before it flew off. There was a group of 5 of these birds eating from a cabbage plant which had gone to seed.

A Linnet (the usual

A Linnet (the usual alternative) is very rare in Shetland, while Twite - the rarer one in most of UK - is the commonest streaky finch. You can tell it most easily by call - a rising 'zhweet', that is almost always given by flying birds or feeding flocks.
