This beetle came to my mothtrap last June covered in mites ?are they parasites or just hitching a lift?
No interactions present.
These mites are usually present on sexton beetles (Nicrophorus species). As carrion feeders, I guess they need a lot of cleaning.
They are hitching a lift from one corpse to the next.
Thanks to you both for that id theres a good discussion at http://www.ispot.org.uk/node/76072?nav=related
