Observed: 13th January 2011 By: Ivor Bend

I saw an otter hunting close to shore at Whitehead. Whilst watching the otter hunting another otter made an appearance.
One of the otters was seen clambering through the rocks and calling out ...I thought it was a bird call at first until I saw the otter looking out at me between a hole in the rocks. I have heard them calling a few times during the night since spotting them and am wondering if they are a breeding pair.

Certainly sounds like otters. Their calls are very bird like, though somewhat more high pitched, that's how I always pick them out.
