Now much less of a woodland

Now much less of a woodland species than it once was - up until the early 1980s it was a reasonable indicator of ancient woodland, feeding on the mildew on oaks, but it then began feeding on the mildew found on ashes and sycamores, and can now be found more or less anywhere
