Piece of wood with teeth marks etc. Would a squirrel do this? and why?
No interactions present.
Squirrels do it as do rats and other rodents. They need to chew on hard objects like wood and sometimes bone in order to keep their teeth in check otherwise they would grow too long for their mouths(their incisor teeth grow continuously). You can sometimes tell which rodent has done the chewing by measuring the teeth marks apparently.
Cheers Lee, should of thought of this really. Being a former gerbil owner.
If you have owned gerbils or chinchillas you'll know all about this. The chew marks are very neat, they look to be squirrel. Rats are not so systematic, they chew all over randomly.
