Description:

This second one grows on an underground fungi called Elaphomyces and was found within feet of the other Cordyceps

Identifications

That's exactly what I thought I had found. I then struggled to identify any of the earth tongue with a yellow stalk and textured head. It is one of the problems you come up against when you have never seen either species before. At that point I came across this Cordyceps description which fitted perfectly.
