I'm always amazed -

that blue, great, and coal tits can gain a net benefit from my seed feeder. Like your example, they flit in, negotiate the anti-squirrel cage, grab a seed, and fly back into the bushes. You'd think that the energy expended would exceed the input from each seed or peanut chip.
