Description:

Brain like shape, purpleish colour, found growing on dead tree in mixed woodland. Any ID help much appreciated.

Identifications

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

Many thanks Fenwickfield, I couldnt find this in my fungi field guide, it was fascinating to look at, have never come across this before.

It is quite young and changes

It is quite young and changes with age,like a lot of fungus so some are much harder to ID than others.It was in a book on Fungi by Michael Jorden,has a lot in and good photo's
