Deer droppings

Small, shiny and brown. Possibly from roe deer as my friend spotted one while I was photographing something else!! No sheep in the area.

I think that you're right. Fallow deer droppings usually have one "tapered" end.

I agree; and all the more likely in an area without livestock-roe deer shun company!

Sheep droppings also tend to stick together in clusters.
