Bracket Fungus on Birch

Large (4 x 3")bracket with horizontal concentrically ringed upper surface in varying shades of dark brown, red brown and pale brown, and oblique pale brown undersurface with parallel slots (resembling gills but bifurcating and anastomosing), attached by broad base


Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

  • Trametes betulina
    Confidence: It's likely to be this, but I can't be certain.
