Description:

A metallic blue beetle, 3-4mm in length. Foreparts with a distinctive shape - like a n old style diver's helmet. Found in an area of limestone grassland with gorse/hawthorn/birch/sallow scrub nearby.

Oulema

Thanks for the correction. I got in a mess with the taxonomy rather than the key - Oulema gallaeciana was a species I considered, but it didn't seem to exist in the UK - I should have read the list in the key more closely! Also belatedly discovered the ID notes on the Watford Coleoptera Group web site.
