Must try..........

Must try that sometime. I imagine they might go off with a bang, similar to conkers or chestnuts when tossed onto a fire! Interestingly Fomes fomentarius is also known commonly as the "tinder bracket" and has been used was used for thousands of years to aid the lighting of fires.

I have tried it. It didn't

I have tried it. It didn't catch fire but it did smoulder like a piece of charcoal. I once watched Ray Mears doing it on TV. It's funny how things like this stick in your memory!
