The plant was growing by the side of a track in a wet area typical of this region of Scotland. The track ran from Poolewe village, alongside the river Ewe, to Kernsary Lodge and then on to Fionn Loch. The plant was seen near Kernsary Lodge. A second specimen was found due south of the lodge on the banks of Abhainn Tholldhoire. The land was grazed by sheep and probably deer.
