Species with which german wasp (Vespula germanica) interacts

probable german wasp, could be a queen, can we see its face?

to confirm that this is a german wasp rather than a common wasp, it is best done by the facial markings...do you have any more pictures? it could be a queen, any idea of size?

jan_rix's picture

the abdominal markings....

....make it likely to be the german, as the abdominal dots aren't fused into the bands but appear as separate marks

To me this doesn't seem to have enough black on the abdomen to be German Wasp (which normally has thicker/deeper black triangle marks in the centre line of the abdomen). I suppose Common Wasp is the most likely alternative but without seeing the face as well I'm not certain.
