The pattern on the breast is not unusual,for an adult female. It loooks to have paler, juvenile feathers in its wing, though, so may be a younger bird, which can also appear like this.

Being in the NE, there will be a lot of continental birds around, here for the winter. Females passing through in autumn/staying for the winter are often more colourful than their British relatives, so this may be a continental bird.
