I think this is a female brambling. Seen on my cherry tree when there was about 6" of snow on the ground.
No interactions present.
I was pleased to get one of these in my garden yesterday as well, not seen one near here before. Didn't manage to get a photo though!

At first I thought it was a chaffinch.
