I am going to specsavers! :)
Hi Foxy, perhaps these two caddis are being the front and back end of a pantomime horntail wasp? :)
Entomologist and biological recorder
Caddis are not easy to identify to species and this is not the view one uses to do that. However, from the appearance of the beasts and the date I am going to make a guess at the limnephilid Anabolia nervosa and am sure enough to add the record to the UK National caddis record data base.
