Plasticontainer's picture

Observed: 10th April 2010 By: Plasticontainer

I photographed this insect walking very slowly around our dustbin lid and wondered what it was. I heard I Spot for the first time last week and thought I'd send in a picture to see if anyone knew what it was - on checking the photo, and by a great coincidence, it looks very much to me as if its the same insect that was on the I Spot programme!

Lovely insect, though, isn't

Lovely insect, though, isn't it? And a very interesting life history. The larvae are parasites in the nests of solitary bees, I believe.

Thanks to all who commented - at least I know what it is now!
