Description:

A number of these were growing by the side of the main road. When I photographed these in mid July they were all near the end of flowering.

That is definitely D.

That is definitely D. purpurella, Les. It is the common dark purple orchid of the Highlands (Heath Spotted D. maculata is the common pale orchid). The broad spur and erect sepals make it a marsh orchid. The dark unspotted leaves and broad lip make it purpurella.
