larva found in south florida, not near any food source... want to feed and observe in captivity and then release.

We need to either feed or release this guy today. Having trouble finding the food he likes.
I cant give you a name for this caterpillar as I am not familiar with American species. But the reason it was in an area without plants may be because it is fully grown. Caterpillars often wander away from their foodplant when fully grown as what they are looking for is a pupation spot. (Or possibly it was searching for a new foodplant). So I would advise releasing it back in the nearest area of vegetation and let it decide itself where and what it wants to do.
