A bulbus brown fly on flowers

Hi creaturesnapper, I'd agree this looks like a muscid fly, and can't see any reason for it not to be Phaonia angelicae, but as you say there are several similar species in this large genus (as well as similar-looking ones in other genera). How can we be sure this is P. angelicae?
