Observed: 15th December 2010 By: melvillejohnson

These creatures came from Normandy. They are black, less than 2mm across, the back is shiny and circular. The underbody is black and dull. They are flat (dorsoventral?), like small flakes of soot with what look like tiny legs on either side. They were first seen in a dog's bedding but the vet was unable to identify them. Are they likely to be lice? We have seen photographs of dog lice but they look nothing like these creatures. The samples we have appear to be dead, but this could be because the dog was treated with Frontline before he returned to Wales from France.
