Colour

Yellow Brain is golden yellow to orange, becoming dark orange as it dries. I have been watching a specimen in my local wood that has done just this. Dacrymyces chrysospermus has a 'white rooting attachment at the base' (Phillips)which is not visible in the second photo.

Tremella mesenterica does

Tremella mesenterica does very rarely grow on conifer. A microscope on the basidia or spores would instantly show the difference.
