An unusual species. Can you explain why it is this? I see from the NBN map that it is found where you say, so I am not disbelieving you...just interested to know how it is recognised. Thanks!

I would have thought this came within the bounds of Dactylorhiza praetermissa, but I cannot be sure as they are so mixed up with hybrids that any view is bound to be personal. According to Stace, D x aschersoniana is only in Limerick (and possibly Cards and the Hebrides) but is now an invalid name. Hey Ho!
known for southern marsh orchid (D. praetermissa), so that would be my guess.
