Caterpillar

caterpillar
Description:

A tufted brownish caterpillar with horns. I've looked on the internet to try and classify it, but have had no luck yet.
It was sitting on the wall outside our art rooms; our science teacher said its hackled were probably raised in defence!

This looks very like a pale tussock moth but aren't they normally more yellow?

Pale Tussock Moth Caterpillar (Dasychira pudibunda)

Hello,
Yes, you are right! I looked up pale tussock moths on google images and most are bright yellow. But there was a greenish one, and one other of a similar colour to the one we saw. Here is its url:

It is a good thing no one touched it because apparently its tuft hairs break off easily and can cause irritation to the skin.

Nature is so beautiful
