Description:

I see this plant in hedges everywhere but can't seem to identify it. Will someone please put me out of my misery.

Red Campion -

can be anything from medium red to almost pink. There is also a hybrid with white campion, called pink campion, and this can back-cross with either parent, I think.
In this case, I reckon Syrphus is right, and it is the red version. The calyx (just behind the petals) is green in the hybrid, rather than this reddish colour.
